Acclaimed local artist Maureen Beat has over 35 years of creative experience. Her artistic expressions take a unique perspective, combining her time spent as an agency art director and as a freelance graphic designer. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and worked in the corporate world prior to founding her own company in 1989, Art Expressions Ltd., which has left its creative touch on Omaha. She returned to the roots of her artistic expression – painting – crafting her own unique style inspired by the greats of the French Impressionist Era. Custom commissions turned into landmark opportunities when she was tapped to collaborate with New York-based glass artist, Peggy Karr for the Hometown Heritage Series. Sold exclusively at Borsheim’s, the 5 year collaboration featured nostalgic Nebraska landmarks such as the iconic Johnny Rosenblatt stadium, Peony Park, Aksarben, the Old Market and Union Pacific. Steeped in history, the works featured watercolor art by Beat & fused-glass craftsmanship by Karr bringing to life memories from a bygone era. In 2018 she was commissioned to create artwork for the Cloisters on the Platte, an Ignatian retreat center established by Joe Ricketts, founder of TD Ameritrade. In 2020, Maureen wrote, illustrated and published a best-selling children’s book Letters to Lucky.
