Maureen Beat is an Omaha native and professional artist whose skills focus on conceptually envisioning visually stunning paintings, with expertise in acrylic and watercolor mediums. She holds a BFA in Studio Art with a minor in Art History from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Maureen founded Art Expressions Ltd. in 1989 and has held various roles in the visual arts for over 35 years. She has received multiple awards, exhibitions and features in prominent venues and publications.  

Maureen wrote, illustrated, and published a bestselling children’s book  “LETTERS TO LUCKY” which climbed to the #2 children’s pet book on Amazon on its publication date 4/29/21.This true story of adopting a skittish, abandoned beagle who became the mascot of the children on the block and received ‘fan letters’ in her very own mailbox also resulted a book signing event at “The Bookworm” a local and independent Omaha bookstore. 

PUBLIC COLLECTIONS AND EXHIBITS 

  • “BUILT ON FAITH” a 6’ x 8’ painting is in the permanent collection at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Elkhorn, NE.
  •  “TRAUMA TO TRIUMPH” 20” x 24” paintingwas one of six pieces chosen to be auctioned at “A Night Out”, the annual fundraiser of The Kim Foundation in September 2025.  
  • THE ART OF SCIENCE AND MEDICINE” is in the permanent collection in the Sorrell Medical Education Building on the University of Nebraska Medical Center campus. 
  • Has exhibited in 4 Artist Invitationals, ‘Illustrators of Children’s Books’, ‘Artsy Mommy’ at The Sunderland Gallery, Omaha, NE, as well as the Southwest Iowa Art Tour at the PACE gallery in Council Bluffs, IA. 
  • Partnered with national fused glass artist Peggy Karr, who created decorative plates based on her watercolors of Omaha Landmarks, marketed as the “Hometown Heritage Collection” and sold exclusively at Borsheim’s Fine Jewelry in Omaha.
